So excited to finish, and have something over with. Juggling too many things, at least that's done.
I use Turbotax.com, what do you use? If you're like me, you probably shop around on the internet and try out different tax sites just to be on the safe side. I usually try h&r block in addition to Turbotax, and usually Turbotax comes out giving me about 5 dollars more. Sure, it's just a 5 dollar difference, but hey, 5 bucks is 5 bucks. That's another taco I can eat this year!
I'm so excited to be filing jointly with my new hubby. There are some things that are strange about Turbotax. It will tell you that it "recommends" you file separately because you get a larger return. Well, this is not true, and I'll tell you why. I'm a student, and you cannot for a student deduction if you are married filing separately. Also, my husband is paying back his student loans, and you cannnot file for a deduction on paid student loan interest if you are married filing separately.
After messing with it for awhile, I found that the money we get back for filing joint is HUGE compared to the amount we'd get if we filed separately. Needless to say, we filed joint, and I'm so glad! Yay!
Yay for marriage, yay for tax returns, and yay for student deductions!
Good luck to you all! May your returns be as large as mine!
