What the heck is that?
So, what’s Vitamin C good for?
Vitamin C helps the body neutralize free radicals
responsible for many chronic diseases.
Free Radicals are compounds formed when our bodies convert the food we
eat into energy. We are also exposed to
environmental free radicals from cigarette smoke, air pollution, and UV light
from the sun. Our bodies CANNOT produce this antioxidant on it’s own, so we
have to get it from the foods we eat.
The body also needs Vitamin C to produce collagen, a protein
REQUIRED to help wounds HEAL.
Vitamin C also improves the absorption of iron from
plant-based foods and helps the immune system work properly to protect the body
from disease.
CANCER PREVENTION: People with a high intake of vitamin c
may have a lower risk of developing certain types of cancer: lung, breast, and
colon.
AM I GETTING ENOUGH VITAMIN C?
Smokers, and those who are exposed to secondhand smoke
require 35mg more vitamin C per day than the average human.
Infants who are fed evaporated or boiled cows milk may not
be getting enough Vitamin C.
Are you a picky eater?
People who eat a very limited variety of food may not be getting enough
Vitamin C.
People with certain medical conditions: Malabsorption,
cancer, kidney disease, may not be getting enough Vitamin C in their diet.
WHAT ELSE?
It has anti-viral properties that help with cold sores,
herpes, shingles, and the common cold.
Ok, enough about Vitamin C.
Can we get back to this Camu Camu stuff?
Do you want to know more about this superfruit?
It contains VALINE – an essential amino acid our body cannot
produce that is used to prevent muscle breakdown and is important for the
nervous system and cognitive function.
SERINE – This amino acid helps to breakdown the bonds in
proteins and polypeptides.
POTASSIUM – Our kidneys and heart need this for proper
functioning.
FLAVONOIDS – used by the body to neutralize free radicals.
LEUCINE – An amino acid that our bodies use for muscle and
bone tissue growth and recovery.
GALLIC ACID – This antioxidant has anti-fungal and
anti-viral properties.
INFLAMMATION REDUCTION – In a study 20 male smokers drank
camu camu juice OR took Vitamin C tablets for 2 weeks. The results showed that the camu camu
drinkers had a decrease in some markers for antioxidants and oxidative stress,
while there was NO CHANGE in the group who had Vitamin C tablets.
But that’s not all. It’s also a natural energy booster
that’s great for your eyes and gums.
How do I get my hands on this SUPERFRUIT? It can be purchased in tablet or powder
form. But why take it like that, when it’s
already included in your daily dose of SHAKEOLOGY?!
As always, contact me with any questions and suggestions!
XOXO,
Sara
